ADC Paper Expo 2015 Invitation

Every year, the Art Directors Club (ADC) hosts one of the premier paper and printing events in New York City. The ADC Paper Expo is an opportunity for practicing creative professionals to meet with leading paper manufacturers and printers, collect the latest samples, connect with new resources and, most importantly, get re-inspired by the art and craft of print design.

Hosted in the ADC Gallery, the ADC Paper Expo welcomes 500+ attendees from a variety of firms and brands — Calvin Klein, Conde Nast, HBO, Shutterstock, Ernst & Young, Sephora, Brooks Brothers, Sotheby’s, J. Crew, Martin Guitar, Pentagram, Wolff Olins, Iris Worldwide, FCB, HarperCollins, Penguin Random House and more.

Another annual tradition that goes along with the Paper Expo is handpicking an ADC Member to design the invitation. This year, the Club chose Nikita Prokhorov, New York-based graphic designer and lettering artist originally hailing from Russia.

Nikita developed a custom alphabet inspired by the rolling motions of paper through a printing press, following a perfect geometric ‘golden ratio’ with each stroke of the letterforms.

(To see more details from the letterform development, take a look at the project on Nikita’s website:

Nikita and ADC chose to capture the simplicity and fun of classic printing techniques — using 100% K ink on 220# Neenah Crane’s Lettra white cotton paper, and letterpressing the invitation at Piggyback Letterpress in SoHo.
